About WMA
Friendship • Family •
Fitness • Fun
These cornerstones have helped WMA Family Fitness Centre
create a unique and welcoming environment for learning, respect, fun and living
well. Embodying the spirit of the martial arts in the broader sense, we
realized early on that the concept of community was virtually intertwined in
the life of every martial art. Learning martial arts is much more to us than
fighting. The collaborative search for knowledge, debate on concepts and
principles, enjoyment of each others company and sharing as a family has truly
been accepted and promoted by our students, staff, parents, children and all of
our partners.
We welcome everyone who walks through our doors and look
forward to aiding their journey through the practice of martial arts and the
transfer of this sacred knowledge.
Our
History
Founded in 1994, Wilson Martial Arts (WMA) Family
Fitness Centre has been providing residents of Toronto and the surrounding
areas with the highest level of fitness and martial arts training. Founded on
the principles of equality, respect, discipline and knowledge, we endeavor to
positively impact our members and the communities we service through greater
understanding of the underlying knowledge that guides the disciplines of the
martial arts that we teach. Through physical activity and focused intension,
the ideologies that have survived for thousands of years and that have
developed into modern martial arts reveal profound understandings of human
relations, individual strength of character, socialization, active discipline
and body awareness. Our primary goal is to enrich the lives of our members by
helping them explore these benefits in a positive and respectful
environment.
The WMA firmly believes in the importance of
communication between teacher and student and to ensure adherence to this
belief, Master Hugh Wilson holds regular one on one meetings with each and
every student of the academy. This ensures that each student is aware of their
progress and development

Standing Out
Positive involvement in our community and in the lives
of our members is an integral component to the WMA experience. The firm belief
that knowledge has no value unless it is shared, only drives us more to get
involved in our communities. Our members are active, healthy and vibrant people
who embrace family and community as a part of their daily lives. Encouraging
the concept of charitable living to all of our members has developed them into
positive catalysts in their own communities.
As a Studio, we actively participate in community
events, charitable endeavors and fundraising activities that give back to those
in need. We feel it is our responsibility and duty to help those in need and
encourage others to also brighten the world around them as well.
