Biography of Master Wilson

Master Hugh Wilson began his journey in the martial arts at age 12 and has demonstrated leadership throughout over three decades of practice and instruction. Having successfully achieved seven of the highest honors in Canadian and International competition, he takes the most pride in the lives he has changed within the walls of his training centre. Offering a wide range of classes tailored to a diverse audience, he has contributed greatly to his community and to development of a greater understanding of the martial arts disciplines he practices. With formal training in physiology and considerable knowledge of training principles both in a classroom and active training environment, Master Wilson has been able to develop a unique set of programs specifically designed for children with special needs which we would like to highlight in this proposal.

Having studied various systems of self-defense, including Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Hapkido, Jujitsu and Boxing, Master Wilson crystallizes a diverse understanding into an effective system delivered into an easy to understand format. Dedicated focus on the principles, theories and practice of Wing Chun began for Master Wilson in 1980 under the guidance of Grandmaster Sunny Tang.

In 1993 Master Sunny Tang introduced Master Wilson to the sport of Sanshou. A few months later, he participated in his first National Sanshou Competition, and competing for Canada in his first World Championship in 1995. Several years later, the connection between Sanshou as a venue to the development of practice, theory and principles of Wing Chun was made. Sanshou also became Master Wilson's chosen practice ground to test his personal skills in the many disciplines he has learned throughout his career. Master Wilson continues to compete at a National and International level.
