Wing Chun
History of Wing Chun
Wing Chun has many variations of its legendary
beginnings. Of all the variations the following facts remain constant:
Yim Wing Chun, an extraordinary female Martial Artist,
developed the foundation of this system which continues to exist in the
discipline we know and practice today. Wing Chun remains a relatively simple
system built on the scientific and mathematical principles of motion and lines.
These principles further enhance the effectiveness of the art of Wing Chun when
combined with the natural motion of the human body.
Two Core Theories:
► Centerline
► Straight-Line theory
Three Key Principles:
► Efficiency of
Time
► Energy
► Movement
When combining these simple to understand theories and
principals with idioms developed to aid in practice, Wing Chun becomes one of
the most efficient martial arts in the world. Grandmaster Yip Man brought the
most popular form of Wing Chun to Hong Kong and from there it quickly spread to
different parts of the world. As former Master to Bruce Lee, Grandmaster Yip
Man has left behind a legacy of accomplished Martial Artists which continue to
support and develop the practice of Wing Chun internationally.
